It is finally Friday. Finally.

Thursday’s workout:  7.5 mile run, miserable, terrible, not awesome.

I was not feeling it when I woke up yesterday (even though I went to bed early, got tons of sleep, ate no sugar the day before, did everything right), and boy was my run not fun.  I was going to do lots more miles, but seriously 7.5 was all I could manage.  And even then I thought I might die during it.

Friday’s workout:  Hopefully I made it to body pump this morning.   That was the late Thursday night plan with a few miles thrown in.

It’s been a long week.  LONG.  I forgot how much work working actually is… and I’m not sure I’m not ready for the kiddos on Tuesday.   I’ve cut out more lamination than miles run this week, and I’ve done and redone bulletin boards like they are going of style.   Labeling my book bins is almost out of the question… but that’s what I’ll be spending today doing and I probably won’t even finish.

Oh, and I killed a roach.   All by myself.  Don’t worry, there was screaming, girly noises and extra slaps by the book just to make sure he’s dead.

roach day 1

I took a picture only because I wanted to document the bravery I showed during the ordeal.

(I know… it sounds like I color and cut all day, but I promise I’ve got a real job and sometimes cutting and pasting for hours upon end really get to you.  I think I’ve inhaled more than my share of permanent marker scent and it’s starting to get to my head.   I swear, I’m a college AND grad school graduate.   Teaching is real work.)

I’m more ready for the weekend than I’ll ever be, and I have a feeling that on Tuesday I’ll start counting down to the weekend again.

The good news is I got to meet a few of my little buddies at Back to School night last night and booooooooy do they have some energy.  They are so, so, so cute and smiley and happy… and the difference between first grade and third grade is incredible, and I’m going to have to start drinking energy drinks to keep up.   I’m pretty sure one kid touched every single thing in my classroom in the 3 minutes he was there.

“What’s this for?”
”Why are there so many desks?”
”Are these pencils for us?”
”Can I have all of this?”
Are we using the playdoh now?”
When are you reading this book?”
I’ve seen that before at my old school.”

….and on and on.  And on.

Needless to say, it’s going to be a year where I need extra energy everyday, and then some!

Luckily, I’ll be starting out with a short, relaxing trip before Day 1 on Tuesday…

Add a glass of wine and that picture is perfect.

What are you doing for the long weekend?  Do you get Monday off?

Anyone else a teacher?
