Celebrateeeeeeeeee

Tuesday’s workout:  5 mile run.   Nothing exciting about this run… 5 easy miles at an 8:40 pace.  My blister has run back into a dark hole because I had zero pain from skin breakage.  I’m hoping this means it’s never coming back, too.

 

1.  Yesterday was my last day of summer school, so to celebrate, my friend Kerry and I went to lunch at my favorite Mexican place.  Unlike all the good bloggers, I didn’t take any pictures.  However, it looked extremely similar to this.

And it was fantastic.  And I ate too many chips, per usual.  And when I left I could barely breathe I was so full… but that’s okay.  I only get to celebrate my last day of work twice a year, right?

2.  I continued my celebration (after a looooooooooooooong digestion period on the couch) with the fave, and had a couple of these

If you’ve never had Hardywood Singel I highly recommend it. 

3.  The most productive thing I did yesterday was join the online jewelry website Bauble Bar.  I’d seen something I wanted on the Today Show last week so I finally got around to online shopping. 

PERK- you sign up and they give you $10 off your first purchase (plus, everything is relatively inexpensive)

CON-  There are soooooooooooooooooo many necklaces/ bracelets/ everything I want.   This might be a bad idea if you’re trying to not spend money.

Just another shopping website to infiltrate my email daily.  Way to go, Kathleen.

 

Today consists of a body pump (check it off the list!) class and some cardio to combat the mexican/beers from yesterday.  If all goes well, I might even tackle cleaning the bathroom.

 

Have you gotten anything off of Bauble Bar?  Any recommendations?

What’s your favorite meal at a Mexican restaurant?

Fajitas with beans and rice and guac and queso and tacos and salsa… I have too many favorites.

Hello, Tuesday!

Monday’s workout: Terrible 5 mile run and possible blister in the making, 10 minute bike ride, abs

I don’t know if its my new shoes (which are the same brand and design I always get) or the way I put in my super cool orthies, but I’m starting to get a blister on my right foot arch.  I can feel it coming, and I tried to nip it in the bud by using Mole Skin, but it’s still there…growing, taunting, hurting. 

Needless to say, the 5 miles I ran Monday were not my best and were slightly painful.   I’m hoping I can get back on track and blister free soon.

 

It’s finally here…

LAST DAY OF SUMMER SCHOOL!!!! 

Well…for me at least.  Those poor kids are suckers- they still have 2.5 weeks to go.  I really love this job-share thing.  Too bad I can’t do that all year.

So, now that I won’t be waking up to work every morning, I’ve decided I need some goals to keep me busy for the rest of the summer.

  • Get back into body pump.  The schedules didn’t work out for me during summer school, so I’m excited to get back to class and start to build a tiny bit of muscle.
  • Increase my mileage so my ‘long run’ each week is actually a long run.  I am no longer allowed to count my 7 miler a long run…especially if I want to run a half marathon in August.
  • Find some races to sign up for so your motivation doesn’t die like it did before (see above).
  • Clean the bathroom.  Not a workout goal but it needs to be done. 
  • Maybe add a cycle class back in the mix once a week.  I know Shari misses me and the PiC at those Wednesday night classes. 
  • Remember that I have a membership to a pool, which I have barely used this summer.  Pool + books= my happy place.

Gotta get started.  I have 5 weeks left to get it all done.

Back to the Grind…

Kind of.

Monday’s workout: 6 mile run, 10 minutes bike, abs

Yesterday marked the start of summer school. 

Every summer I tell myself it’s totally worth the extra cash and every summer on the first day I ask myself why on earth I sign up for this…fun.

I was just starting to learn to sleep in, but alas, now I’m back to getting up earlier than usual to go hang with a bunch of kiddies for a few weeks. 

Okay, okay, it’s not that bad. 

It’s only half days (when did four hours get so long?) and it’s only 15 kids (still seems like a lot though) and it’s only for 10 days (I’m job sharing), but it’s still a big X right through my summer vacation.

Although, since this is paying for an actual vacation, I guess I shouldn’t complain.

Sunday night I barely slept- must have been the anticipation of the first day of school- so I treated myself to a nice nap in the afternoon.  The nap was great- what wasn’t great was trying to force myself to the gym after. 

I made it though, and while I was running I decided I needed a goal.  I’m not ready to commit to another marathon just yet (maybe later this summer I will be), but I’d like to start looking for half marathons in the next few months.

Do you know of any half marathons in or around Virginia in July or August?

It’s sometimes hard for me to keep up my running (especially running longer distances) when I don’t have a race on the horizon.  I’m such a mental runner that if I’m not in a competitive mind frame, I’m not going to put my best foot forward.
